Copyright and DMCA Policy

Effective October 21, 2026.

1. Reporting infringement

We respect intellectual property and respond to notices of claimed copyright infringement under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and similar laws. If you believe something on GRIT (a published game, game page or image, a Library asset, shared Remix source, a comment or a profile) infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent with:

  • your physical or electronic signature;
  • a description of the copyrighted work you say is infringed;
  • the specific content you say infringes, with its link (for example the game's page or the Library asset's page), so we can find it;
  • your name, postal address, telephone number and email address;
  • a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law;
  • a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for them.

Designated agent: [designated agent name], Firesight Studios LLC, Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States. Email: [email protected].

A notice that leaves out these elements may not be acted on. Knowingly making a false claim of infringement can make you liable for damages.

2. What we do

When we receive a valid notice, we remove or disable access to the content and tell the person who posted it, with a copy of the notice (your contact details may be included). Games and assets taken down are kept for a limited time so a successful counter-notice can restore them.

3. Counter-notice

If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same agent with:

  • your physical or electronic signature;
  • the content that was removed and where it appeared before;
  • a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith the content was removed by mistake or misidentification;
  • your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if you are outside the United States, the state and federal courts in Hamilton County, Tennessee), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the notice.

We will forward it to the person who sent the notice. If they don't tell us within 10 business days that they have filed a court action, we may restore the content within 10 to 14 business days after we received the counter-notice.

4. Repeat infringers

We close the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyright, in appropriate circumstances. We may also remove content and limit accounts without a notice when infringement is clear.

5. Other rights

For trademark or other complaints that aren't about copyright, email [email protected] with the content's link and an explanation.
