Library Asset License

Effective October 21, 2026.

1. What this covers

This license applies to every asset you get from the GRIT Library (models, materials, textures, fonts, UI kits and their files), whether made by GRIT ("verified") or shared by a GRIT user ("community"). For community assets, the creator grants this license through GRIT. Some fonts in the Library, and the App's built-in fonts, are under their own open licences (such as the SIL Open Font License); their licence file ships with the font and governs it.

2. What you may do

Once you are entitled to an asset (it is free, you bought it, or you downloaded it while you had GRIT Pro), you get a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to:

  • use, change and combine it in your games, apps, prototypes, videos, images and other projects, personal or commercial;
  • distribute it as part of your finished game or project (for example in a build, on the GRIT site, on app stores or on other stores), and let your players use it in that game;
  • show it in screenshots, trailers and marketing for your game.

3. What you may not do

  • Sell, give away or share the asset itself, alone or in a pack, collection, template, asset store, or library of any kind, changed or not, or in a form where it can easily be taken out and reused on its own (a game's normal packaged files are fine).
  • Claim you made it, or register it as your own trademark or design.
  • Use it to train or fine-tune AI models, or as data for generating similar assets, except through features of GRIT that we provide for it.
  • Use it in content that breaks the law or the Acceptable Use Policy, or in a way that suggests GRIT or its creator endorses you.
  • Get around the App's download checks, or let others use your entitlement.

Shared Remix source and Cloud projects never contain Library assets; whoever opens them fetches the assets again under their own license.

4. GRIT Pro assets and what happens when Pro ends

Paid (Pro) assets you download while you have GRIT Pro stay licensed after Pro ends, at the version you last downloaded, for the projects and games that use them, including new builds and updates of those games. To use them in new projects, or to get newer versions or other paid assets, you need Pro again. A refund or chargeback of a payment ends the rights that payment gave you for assets not yet shipped in a published game.

5. Removed assets

If an asset leaves the Library, your license for projects that already use it continues. If we must remove an asset because it infringes someone's rights or for legal reasons, we will tell you if we can, and you must stop distributing it in new builds once we do.

6. No warranty

Assets are provided as-is, as described in the Terms of Service. Check that each asset suits your project, including its size, performance and any restrictions in its listing.
