Fallen dead oak branch

Fallen dead oak branch about 3.2 m long, 13 cm across at a jagged snapped butt with torn splintered fibres, tapering and crooking out to a fan of forking side branches and bare twigs; lies on the ground with some twigs on the litter and others raised. Bark peeling in patches from silver-grey checked wood, lichen and moss on top; forest-floor deadwood for woods, swamps and spooky village outskirts.
