Old-town cast-iron gas lantern post, 3.2 m tall: octagonal bolted-down base with an access panel and a cast foundry cartouche, fluted tapering shaft, lamplighter's ladder bar, and a square glazed iron lantern with a hinged front door, pyramid roof and ventilated chimney cap over an upright gas mantle; black paint chipped to red primer, rust streaks from the joints, a dented roof, sooty glass, dirt and algae at the foot, a stencilled lamp number and a torn notice.
