Oak fingerpost in a stone cairn

Rural crossroads fingerpost: a 2.6 m square oak post with a chamfered cap and pyramid finial, set in a small cairn of mossy fieldstones, with four pointed finger boards at different heights and angles painted with incised old-style place names and distances (HOLLOWMERE 3, KELLAN MILL 1½, ODDSTONE 5¼, THE FORD ½). Heavily weathered: silver-grey checked oak, lichen, flaking paint, rusty coach bolts with brown streaks, and one cracked finger sagging on its last bolt.
