Cleft oak post-and-rail fence, 3 m module

Repeatable 3 m module of a rural post-and-rail fence: a cleft oak post 1.3 m high with three through mortises and three rough riven oak rails whose axed tenons overlap in the mortises. Heavily weathered silver-grey oak with deep checks, lichen and a mossy top; the middle rail split and sagging, rusty nails with brown streaks, a faded paint mark, and mud splash at the post foot.
