Straw bale stack

Stack of six small rectangular straw bales, 3-2-1 like brickwork, about 2.9 m long and 1.05 m high, each bound with two strands of grey sisal twine, sagging into the joints; the right-hand bottom bale is cut open with flakes leaning and fallen on the ground, loose straw and the cut twine in front, and a hay fork with an ash handle leans on the stack. Sun-bleached gold straw with grey weathered tops, damp dark bottoms and fresh gold inside the flakes; farm dressing that also works as low cover.
