Norman stone keep (stylized)

tower_keep_stone_stylized_a · level.towers.keep

Stylized cartoon version: chunky shapes with big rounded edges, thickened parts, a toy-like wider base and slightly hand-made wobble; bold flat colours with painted light (darker low down, lighter on top), small hardware and fine detail removed. Norman rectangular great keep in weathered limestone ashlar, 14 x 12 m and 21.8 m to the battlements with corner turrets rising to 24.8 m: pilaster buttresses, a battered plinth, arrow slits low down, round-headed windows that widen with height (two-order openings with nook shafts at the top), a first-floor entrance reached by an open stone forebuilding stair, putlog holes, a corbel table and string course under a crenellated parapet round a walkable flagged roof. Hollow, with floor ledges, a roof hatch and door, window, floor and ladder sockets; heavy wear: lichen, damp and algae at the foot, run-off under sills and spouts, eroded joints and mason's marks.
