Castle rampart wall, outside corner

Weathered medieval castle curtain wall in dressed limestone ashlar, an outside corner with two 2 m arms, an L-shaped corner merlon and flush ends; 2.6 m thick with a 5 m high wall-walk of stone flags, a crenellated parapet (merlons with arrow loops, embrasures), a battered plinth and a drip string course, snapping to a 4 m grid. Eroded lime joints, chipped and spalled stones, putlog holes and spouts; moss, lichen, damp, run-off streaks, soot, mason's marks and a scratched game board.
