Castle rampart wall, 4 m

Weathered medieval castle curtain wall in dressed limestone ashlar, a 4 m straight module with two merlons and flush ends that tile along a spline; 2.6 m thick with a 5 m high wall-walk of stone flags, a crenellated parapet (merlons with arrow loops, embrasures), a battered plinth and a drip string course, snapping to a 4 m grid. Eroded lime joints, chipped and spalled stones, putlog holes and spouts; moss, lichen, damp, run-off streaks, soot, mason's marks and a scratched game board.
